Last weekend the Brothers YZ celebrated Nana's birthday on the Cape, and this weekend they celebrated Daddy's birthday at the Pioneer House. Earlier in the week Evan had selected his own card for Daddy with some otters that we could pretend were some of Evan's (and Curious George's) favorites animals--beavers. While Daddy was out, I let Evan "help" wrap the presents making sure the big present was already in its box. Evan is not good at keeping secrets like his Uncle B. Once the presents were wrapped, Evan thought it would be a good idea to hide the presents, and it took me a little while to gather them. Of course, Evan wanted to help with the opening of the gifts under Liam's watchful eyes. Upon opening the big present of a watch, Evan said very excitedly, "Look, Daddy, we got you a new box!" He was almost as excited about the CDs that were a gift from Nana thinking that we "got new Raffi" instead of Glenn Miller and Coldplay. Everyone, including Liam, enjoyed some ice cream cake in the shape of a football for the Patriots' lesser known other coach. Evan seemed to forget his disappointment at skipping the Thomas the Tank Engine cake until his birthday in July.
