First Fall Weekend

The Brothers YZ had a very busy social calendar on this beautiful first weekend of fall. Because Daddy was away on business in Dallas, Evan and Liam got to spend some extra time with some of their favorite people who were giving Mommy an extra hand. A very big thank you to Aunt Meg, Uncle Brian, Barbara, Nana, and Grampa! Still, we missed Daddy very much. On Saturday morning, the first words out of Evan's mouth were "Did Daddy come home last night?" instead of the usual, "Is it a school day today?" When I told Evan that Daddy's plane would come in very late that night, he asked if the plane would be stopping on Pioneer Road. (The idea of a big jet plane making a landing on our very short, tree-canopied road is very amusing.) Then, Evan was so excited that Daddy was home on Sunday morning that he could not leave Daddy alone to get some sleep.

Evan and Liam got to spend some quality time with their extended family on Saturday at the Gardner Memory Walk. The 9:1 ratio of adults to Evan allowed him much freedom to explore all the Walk had to offer. He had his face painted; got a balloon animal; did a lap around the track; danced to Billy Idol's Mony Mony; ate popcorn, donuts, and apples; and much more. Liam rode at least two miles in his stroller around the track pushed by various relatives. The dynamic fundraising YZ duo has raised about $900 so far for Alzheimer's research and services. I know that many of the followers of the Brothers YZ blogspot were donors, and we appreciate everyone's generosity.

On Sunday, once Daddy was got a chance to rest a little bit, we took the brothers to the Fall Festival in Rutland. The highlight of festival was a hayride to the pumpkin patch. We already had two great pumpkins from Babchi's garden, but we took home a baby pumpkin. Like his Grampa, Babchi, and Grammy, Evan is very happy to spend the day working in the garden. I was worried that he might help himself to more than the pumpkins. We also enjoyed looking at all of the farm animals and equipment and doing the hay maze. Liam was especially excited to see a real donkey. It was another great day of family fun in Rutland where Evan has enjoyed the Fourth of July Parade, Chowerfest, and Fire Station Open House.
