Yesterday I took The Brothers YZ to Maine for the day to visit Nana and Grampa on their vacation. Evan and Liam were lovely traveling companions on the two hour trip. Upon arrival, Liam immediately demonstrated his new tricks.

In the morning, we visited a great playground in Wells Harbor. Evan enjoyed the many slides, climbing wall, steering wells, and jungle gyms, and he had his mommy and Grampa running wild chasing him all over the place. Evan also gave his Grampa quite the lesson on how boats work straight from his Richard Scarry books. Liam enjoyed a lovely nap in the ocean breeze but awakened in time to take a ride in the baby swing.
After lunch and a quick nap, we headed to Drakes Island beach. Thinking it was too cool to go swimming, I almost decided not to put on Evan's swimsuit, but at the last minute, he insisted on wearing it. It was a good thing. After a few minutes of playing in the sand, he announced, "I'm going swimming." He had a great time running into the surf and running
back to shore away from the waves. He was having so much fun that he couldn't speak. Meanwhile, Liam had another peaceful nap. Apparently, the ocean breeze agrees with him!

Both boys were just as cooperative on the ride back to Massachusetts. Somehow Evan managed to stay awake for the entire trip. Needless to say, there was a whole lot of Raffi and some amusing comments and questions from the back seat. Two of my favorite questions were, "When does Santa sleep?" prompted by Raffi's rendition of "Must Be Santa Claus, " and "Where's my breath?" asked rather frantically. It was a great day to be mommy of The Brothers YZ.
