Future Priest
Evan has a lot of fans at St. Francis Episcopal Church but probably none greater than the church school coordinator, Susan. Today after the church service was over, she sought me out to tell me about how amazed she was at Evan. At the end of church school before the children join their parents for communion, all of the children from each grade gather for circle time. The topic of conversation at today's circle time was death, because two of the children had lost grandparents last week. Susan asked the children, "How does God help in times like this?" Evan, one of the youngest students, was the only one to reply. His response was, "After people die, God brings them to heaven so that they can live for a much longer time." I can't wait to see what Evan thinks of an extended Palm Sunday Church School where the events of Holy Week will be discussed at length. He has had a lot of questions about the stations of the cross that he sees in church.
