Today Liam has his one year check-up at the pediatrician. His growth rate has finally slowed down a bit, and my back is thankful for that. He weighed in at 23 lbs. 10 oz. (70th percentile) and 30 inches (75th percentile). His head circumfrance was off the charts, as can be expected by someone who has Gemborys genes. The pediatrician was very impressed with his developmental progress as well. For those who haven't checked out his milestones, he has been walking for more than one month and has given up his bottle. He is babbling a lot, and Evan thinks he is calling me "Mama." I'm more convinced that he is calling Finbar "Da." He eats just about any kind of table food. (He doesn't seem to have his big brother's disdain for meat that is not processed.) He has started engaging in pretend play when he makes the plastic animals walk and a Little Person climb up the fire ladder into the basket. The only area of progress where he seems to be lacking is sleep. He was sleeping through the night for a few weeks in December, but now he is back to his usual midnight screaming that will repeat at hourly intervals. And, the parents are back to their old bad habits. We should have gotten a king-sized bed.
P.S. While we were at the pediatrician's office, Evan hoped on the scale as well. I am thrilled to announce that he has finally topped 30 lbs. at age 3.5 years. He measured about 38 inches in shoes.
