Now that Liam has reached a year, we have closed the chapter on breastfeeding. The decision to commit to breastfeeding for the full year this time around was definitely economical to the family finances and beneficial for Liam's health, but more importantly it made me a more relaxed and saner mother. (With Evan, I became obsessed with bottle amounts once he was weaned at three months.) It also instigated some very amusing comments from Evan who is a big fan of nursing, as it kept his brother occupied. Evan was forever saying to me, "Mommy, Liam is wrecking my train tracks. Can't you feed him?" Here are three of my other favorite Evanisms on nursing:
- When Evan saw other mothers feeding their babies bottles, he would ask them if the bottle had breastmilk or "farmuluck." Upon hearing the answer, he would tell them, "Most babies like breastmilk and some babies like "farmuluck."
- Looking at the flyer for Baby Storytime that contained some interesting clip art, he told me very loudly, "This is a place that you can feed Liam."
- Upon hearing his mother complain about the pain associated with weaning, Evan told me, "My buzzles are bold, too!" Buzzles is Evan's word not mine.
The LaLeche League would love Evan!
