Birthday Boy

Today Liam turned one! It's hard to believe that at this time last year Liam was in the NICU, and we were very uncertain about his outcome. We have been so blessed that Liam was able to overcome his frightening entry into this world and has thrived in every sense of the world. I will be sending Dr. Quinama, my obstetrician, a picture and thank you note for his safe delivery.

Liam had a low-key birthday, as his party is scheduled for Sunday. With this nasty cold that he has been fighting all week, we weren't sure how much celebrating he would be up for. When he woke up this morning finally feeling a little better, I get a little cake and invite Nana and Grampa over for pizza. As you can see from the video clip, Liam loved his birthday cake. Big Brother Evan loved opening the gifts that he chose for his little brother last weekend. As with most year olds, Liam had the most fun playing with the boxes. He also enjoyed running around with his new hooded towel.

Let's hope that the birthday excitement and return to good health will mean a good night's sleep. That would be the perfect birthday gift to the woman who gave birth to him.
