One day we went to the Higgins Armory with our new membership thanks to the Ciraulo family. We were even able to take along Evan's friend, Casey. The new children's room is fantastic. The kids can build their own castle.
Liam tried on some chain mail. He insisted it wasn't too heavy.
We take art classes on Friday morning at the Worcester Art Museum. Evan has taken several classes there before, and he has always made some great projects and loved the time spend in the galleries and studio. So I was looking forward to taking a class with Liam while Evan took his own class, but unfortunately the instructors were disappointing for the cost. I actually called to express my dissatisfaction and was given a credit for the cost of both classes. Hopefully, we'll find a multi-week class that Evan can take in the spring.Despite the lack of preparation on the part of the instructor, Liam still enjoyed his project decorating a drum with duct tape. I was also happy to see how well he behaved in the gallery, participated in the discussion about art, and maintained his interest for the two hours.
After our classes, we enjoyed an extra-special lunch in the Museum Cafe which was surprisingly kid-friendly. With the excuse of visiting the museum store, we took a free walk through the Roman, Egyptian and Greek art. Evan loves looking at artifacts, sculpture and painting, but Liam was having trouble keeping his hands off things. He had been on his best behavior for hours. Still, no art was destroyed or even harmed.
On New Year's Eve, we went ice skating for the first time this year, or to be accurate, I watched the boyz and Greg ice skate. The boyz could definitely use some more lessons if we can find the time and convince them. Liam was a great sport about working on his skating with Daddy. His clinging to the boards was a familiar sight.
Evan got a little discouraged by how often he was falling down, but he did stick out for most of the session. He looked great in his Bruins jersey.

The best part of vacation was the time spent hanging out and playing with the new toys. When Evan and Liam weren't fighting over the same tiny Lego minifigure, they played together well. They even showed amazing restraint while using their new electronic light sabers which are especially fun to use in the dark. I guess Santa knew that they could handle this upgrade in their Jedi weaponry.
