On Friday, we left for a wonderful adventure in the Berkshires. First, we had to drop off Finbar at Nana and Grampa's house for his own mini-break. He loves to ride in the mini-van right next to the second row of seats where the Brothers YZ sit even though I put a blanket on the third row seat for him. If only I had a wide angle on the camera, I could have a shot of the three of them sitting in a row.
On our way to our final destination, Jiminy Peak, we stopped at the Eric Caryle Museum in Amherst. This was a wonderful place for kids and adults alike with an art studio that had projects for everyone in the family to enjoy, a library with the best children's books and fun toys, galleries with Caryle's work, of course, and other illustrators, and a movie theater showing an animated feature.

After the museum, we had lunch in a very crunchy-granola cafe in Northamptom whose staff was wonderful to the Brothers YZ.
We arrived at Jiminy Peak before dinner time. Jiminy Peak is a great family place to stay with suites that have full kitchenettes, a bathroom big enough for Liam's pack and play, and a nice restaurant onsite. There are also all kinds of outdoor activities including an alpine slide, skiing, and rock walls. For the toddler/preschool set, there is a
nice playground that allowed the Brothers YZ to get use some energy before meal times.

buffet at the Peak before heading to Lenox for the Berkshire Scenic Railway. The Brothers YZ had a great time playing at the train table in the museum/shop while waiting for the train to board. Everyone enjoyed the 45 minute roundtrip ride to Lee. After the train ride, Evan wanted to climb one of the mountains so we headed off to Pittsfield State Forest where we tested the limits of the baby jogger. The forest was beautiful, and by chance, the trail had a scenic overlook that convinced Evan he had climbed a mountain. When we got back to the Peak, Evan and Greg went for a dip in the outdoor (you read it correctly) pool that is heated and open all year unless the temps go below 25 degrees.

This museum was great for nerds of all ages with plenty of hands-on activities for the kids including uncovering dinosaur fossils, an small but awesome aquarium, and some nice artwork. And, Uncle Brian, the price was right--free with our Ecotarium membership. 
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend to celebrate Greg's 40th birthday. The weather was perfect, the Brothers YZ were great travelers, and there was more than enough activities to enjoy. We already planning our next visit to Jiminy Peak!
