An Unforgettable Memory Walk

It's been a whole week since my last post. Greg has been away in Wyoming since Wednesday for an annual business trip that always falls on Memory Walk weekend. To say that it has been crazy would be an understatement. The Brothers YZ and their canine companion, Finbar, have been on their best behavior for this temporarily single mommy (with a whole lot of help from Nana and Grampa), but the monsoon-like weather made home and work responsibilities challenging.

Despite the weather, the Brothers YZ had a very successful Memory Walk. This year they served as mascots for The Unforgettables, a team of people with early-stage Alzheimer's disease with whom I work. So far The Unforgettables have raised over $27,000! Evan even braved the driving rain today to complete the entire 3.5 mile walk in the jogging stroller, on his feet, or on the shoulders of male team members. He was a great sport throughout a very long day and is still riding the high of "winning the whole thing." Of course, no one wins the Memory Walk, but Evan thinks that he did with the ribbon provided at the end of the walk.

Over the weekend, the Brothers YZ had lots of quality time with Nana and Grampa and two visits with Cousin Henry. For those readers who do not check out Cousin Henry's blog, http://www.thelittleg-unit.blogspot.com/, here is a picture of him at almost 7 months. He is already crawling around, pulling himself up to a stand, and cruising. He just lights up when he sees the Brothers YZ and will be in on the wrestling and snuggling action pictured at the top of this post before long. I can't wait to get a picture of the cousin trio, but they are all so active that it is nearly impossible. We may have to seek professional help.
