Off to Pre-K

As many of you know, we experienced some preschool drama in the last two weeks when Evan's preschool suddently fired the director and his new teacher. It seemed like a good excuse to move him to a preschool closer to home and Liam's day care and with the option of after-kindergarten program. (We only have half day kindergarten in Holden.) After two days of many phone calls and some tours, Evan and I are agreed that the pre-kindergarten program at Childworks would be his new school.

Fortunately, Evan has been his usual adaptable self for this change. In his words, "I'm leaving Lauren [the girlfriend at his old preschool] behind, and I'm going to pre-K!" He proceeded to give Lauren the cold shoulder for his last week at the old preschool. He had moved on.

His first two days at the pre-K program have been good. Of course, he has been a little secretive about what he does there. His teacher, Miss Emily, an extremely energetic and very young woman, posts a daily report to parents about the day's activities that she writes with the children. Miss Emily has also been very good about talking with me about his performance. He has gotten rave reviews about his vocabulary and ability to make friends.

Here's his first Childworks funny..."They speak a different language at the new school. When they answer the phone, they don't say, "St. Mary's." Instead they say child something."
