It has been a festive Fourth of July in Central Massachusetts despite some iffy weather. Last night the rain and thunderstorms cleared out just in time for Evan's first fire
works. Thank goodness! He was so excited for the outing with our friends, Dena and Tyler, that I couldn't imagine the disappointment of a cancellation. The long wait for the show to begin at the late hour of 9:00 PM for two almost four year olds was difficult, but it was worth it. Check out the cool shots that my Cyber-shot camera captured with its special fireworks feature! Then, today we had a break in the rain for the 60th Annual Fourth of July Parade in Rutland. As usual, it was a blast with patriotism, community spirit, music, and bawdy floats. I think this picture of the Rutland Builders Association's float, Builders in the Buff (a play on diamonds in the rough), included in this post
says it all. Evan had some trouble keeping up with the older kids in their quest for candy, but he managed to snag a few pieces to reenact the parade in Holden later. Liam absolutely loved the parade! Even the delay in his afternoon nap, he sat raptly in his stroller for the hour-long parade waving his little flag. How the Landmark didn't take his picture I'll never know.
