Like Father, Like Son

Last night Evan demonstrated some of his father's sentimentality and sensitivity for emotional moments in film. If you can call the Cars movie film... For those of you familiar with the movie, there is a pivotal moment when Lightning McQueen leaves his new friends in Radiator Springs and goes to California for the Piston Cup competition. Evan, of course, picked up on the mixed feelings of all involved, and his lip started to quiver. He asked us in a trembling voice, "Why are the cars sad?" After hearing our explanation, his breathing became erratic. When I drew him close to comfort him, that's when the tears started to fall. It was so sweet, and we had to cover our mouths to keep from laughing. Oh, Evan!
