Evan's First Race

Evan ran his first race this weekend. It was a Kids Fun Run that was part of the Harvard Pilgrim Fourth of July 10K that I was doing. It was held on the day before the parents' race on the field at Gillette Stadium. You couldn't get much more exciting for a first race for both runner and coach, aka Dad. We were very proud that opted to run in the 7 year old race so that he could challenge himself to running around the entire field rather than a 50 yard dash.

Here's Evan pre-race reviewing the game plan in his mind which he was to start slow and conserve engergy for the end. He did stick to the game plan and started the race at the back of the pack and passed about 25 runners at the end. See if you can pick out Evan running by. Check out his fabulous form which he kept through the race around the field.

Getting a photo with Bill Rodgers, winner of 4 Boston Marathons and many more.

Getting a post-race congratulatory hug from little brother, Liam.

Contemplating the race experience in the shadow of Gillette Stadium while enjoying some free snacks.
