Opening Day

This past Saturday was opening day for Holden Baseball which kicked off with a parade down Main Street and a ceremony at the town field. The only event in Holden to attract more people is Holden Days. The procession of players and coaches was so long that it took almost an hour to walk 1/2 mile.

Here is a shot of Evan with his team, Dick's Sporting Goods. We bumped into Evan's friend from kindergarten, Casey.

Evan took a minute to pose in front of the Dick's sign.

Later that day, Evan had his first game ever before any practice. He opted to skip two years of t-ball and go straight to baseball. In Single A Baseball, the coaches pitch until the player hits the ball, or the coach gives up and gets the t. place. The players always look stunned when contact is made with the ball and need to be told to "Run!" The players do not always run toward firstWhen the team is in the field, the 3-4 coaches direct the play. No player is ever out even if a play is made.

At the second game of the weekend, Liam was busy getting chased by two girls. He tried to turn the game into tag and stated, "You can touch me as much as you want!" Hmmm. The police weren't called.
