Gone, Baby, Gone

Last week we finally bite the bullet and laid down $1,500 to have what had to be the ugliest pine tree in Holden cut down. Somehow this tree survived the ice storm of December 2009, not without a huge branch taking out the electric wires for the whole street. Everytime we have any significant wind, more branches have fallen, and it needed to go before a branch landed on one of our vehicles or the whole thing fell down on our garage.Taking out this tree was a huge undertaking. First, the tree guys cut all of the branches leaving us with what the kids in the neighborhood termed, a "Dr. Seuss tree."

The following day the trunk came down, and it's stump was ground. We have a lot more sun light in yard and a lot of lawn rehabilitation to be done. Without the tree and old fence, all of our yard's trouble areas are clearly visible to all.

It amazing what a difference tree removal has made not only to our yard but to the street. Anyone who is familiar with our neighborhood has stopped and gawked. We've met lots of new neighbors over the past few days.
