It was an exciting weekend for the McGurin household. We adopted a new dog in the midst of an October Nor'Easter. We found Cody, formerly known as Remington, at Fitchburg Animal Control via www.petfinder.com. He was found wandering the streets of Fitchburg about a month and half ago, and no one claimed him. He is a real sweet and gentle dog who is between 5 and 7 years old. He appears and acts like a labrador retriever. He needs a little work around the leash and food, but he is already house-trained and has pretty good manners otherwise. I think he'll be a wonderful addition to our family.There is mutual affection between Cody and the boyz already.
Cody was welcomed home with a record-breaking snowstorm. We had close to 10 inches of snow in Holden, and the entire town was without power for almost 24 hours. Fortunately, Rutland did have power, and Nana and Grampa got a chance to spend some quality time with Cody.
Evan spent almost 2 hours playing in the snow before 9:00 AM. Here he is in the sandbox.
Evan had grand plans for Cody's future as a sled dog, but Cody was more interested in sniffing the yard and getting hugs.
Now I am trying to get in the mood for trick-or-treating in the midst of the snow and cold. At least, we had electricity by which to carve the pumpkins this morning on our first snow day of the year. More pictures to follow of the Halloween costumes yet to be completely decided 1/2 hour before we hits the snow-covered streets.
