Ash Wednesday

This afternoon I decided to brave Ash Wednesday services with the boys on my own. It's normally a solemn, quiet service, but the church school coordinator said that children were encouraged to attend. The boys chose to sit in the last row, and they managed to make it an entire hour without wrestling and were relatively quiet.

Liam decided that he didn't want to get ashes, but Evan was in. Since we were in the last row in the church, we were in the back of the line. Evan exclaimed loudly, "What! A traffic jam to get a tatoo on your head." He was very serious when his time came.

Later that evening he was disappointed to see that the ashes had disappeared. He said that if he known they wouldn't last, he might not have gotten them in the first place.
