We had another fabulous fall getaway last weekend planned by Greg and made possible, in part, with dogsitting provided by Nana and Grampa. This year we headed to Portsmouth, NH and southern Maine for two days.
On our way to the hotel, we stopped in Peabody to have dinner at Legal Seafoods with Grampy, Aunt Patti, Uncle Bill and Aunt Bern. Considering the long drive there with the holiday traffic, the boys were very well behaved and lasted until dessert. Liam was most impressed by the valet parking, and when our minivan was returned to us, he pumped his fists up over his head and applauded.
On Saturday, we went to Rye, NH to visit the Seacoast Science Center and walk along the coastline. Then, we had a lovely lunch at a cafe in a little village in Kittery where we also explored an old libary. We spent about two hours at an amazing school playground in New Castle before going to hike at the Urban Forestry Center.
On Sunday, we headed to downtown Portsmouth for brunch which involved much walking to find the right place. Our plan was to go on a harbor cruise in Portsmouth, but unfortunately, the cruise was sold out hours in advance. Not to have our desire for a cruise denied, we headed to Maine where we reserved tickets for a Nubble Lighthouse Cruise out of Perkins Cove. The boys were very good on the 90 minute voyage and even got a chance to steer the boat on the way home.
