Fun in the Sun

We have had a lot of sun and water related fun in the last few days. First, we headed southeast for a mini-break. Waiting until the end of August for vacation is killing Greg and me, and an overnight in Plymouth with two trips to the beach were in order. We visited a new beach for us--Scusset Beach in Sagamore and an old standby--Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. Scusset had nice sand, but the surf was a bit rough and the crowd a bit unsavory. Sandy Neck is a little rocky, but it wasn't a very crowded and the waves were gentle.

It was a pleasant surprise to see how much easier it was to take the boyz to the beach now. They were very content to stay in one place wading in the water and making sand creations for hours. (I was actually able to read 2 chapters of a book!)

Plymouth was a pleasant surprise. I was just thinking of it as a place with a reasonably priced, new hotel with a nice indoor pool. The hotel was very nice with the cafeteria-style breakfast the boyz just love. Plymouth itself had lots for us to enjoy in the evening with dinner at a tiki bar on the harbor, walk in a beautiful park, look at Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II, and tasty softserve while people and dog-watching. We didn't end up back at the hotel until almost 9 PM.
