We have had a very busy Fourth of July weekend with time at the pool, fireworks, parade, cookout, picking blueberries with Grampa, and, of course, a visit with the new cousin, Hazel Elizabeth. (More on Hazel Elizabeth and pics in the next post. She deserves her own.) At the pool, Evan has been wowing us with his swimming skills which have improved vastly in his two weeks at camp. He is now able to go down the slide and jump off the diving board on his his own. As you will see in the video below, these feats involve a swimming a distance on his own in deep water. It is hard to believe how independent he is at the pool this year.
This year we took Liam to the fireworks for the first time. It was a little late for him, but he did enjoy himself. He and Evan kept marveling at how the fireworks were "like 3-D."
And, the Rutland Fourth of July Parade did not disappoint. In fact, I think it was the best parade ever. With several hotly contested elections coming up in the fall, there was tons of free candy for the kids to scurry after. There was a fabuous viking float complete. The Rutland Fire Department found yet another excuse to put balloons under their shirts and keep with the theme which was "The Beat Goes On." Their float was a tribute to Grease with the firefighters dressed as pink ladies.
