Cape Cod 2009

We just got back from another fun vacation on Cape Cod. Iffy weather and a raging case of poison ivy (for Evan) could damper the spirit of the Brothers YZ. We managed to get in two good beach days, visit to Easton Children's Musuemm, an encore trip to Chatham to see the railroad museum, fire station and playground, and visits to Grammy and Grampy at their hotel in Eastham with an indoor pool and at their yurt in Nickerson State Park. We also made an unplanned trip to the Walk-In Medical Clinic when Evan's treatment for poison ivy stopped working.

In these pictures from the Children's Museum in Easton where we stopped on our way to the Cape, you can see poor Evan's swollen, red, and rashy face and arms before the Prednisone. He was such a trooper through the poison ivy ordeal trying his best not to scratch too much and staying in very good spirits. The Easton Children's Museum is in a restored old fire station. It has wnderful hands-on exhibits on three floors and a beautiful outdoor area.

We enjoyed time Skaket Beach in Orleans and Howes Wharf Beach in Dennis. Liam just loved running in the surf and having Mommy and Daddy draw his favorite Cars characters in the sand. Liam also loved taking the stick of sunscreen and applying it to Mommy and Daddy saying in a most tender voice, "It won't hurt you." Evan was most interested in the shells, rocks, and evidence of sea life.

On our only day that was a complete weather washout, we went over to Grammy and Grampy's hotel in Eastham in the morning to have breakfast and take a dip in the pool. Liam was content to sit on the steps into the pool to do his "swimming." Evan continues to impress us with his swimming abilities. At the pool at our cottages, he was able to paddle all over the pool with just a noodle. Then, at the hotel pool, he was swimming underwater completely on his own for several feet. I will post some videos later. I definitely need to try to get him into a higher level of swimming class at the Holden pool.

Later that day, we took the boys to the Brewster Ladies Library to see what their children's room had to offer. The Brothers YZ had a great time doing puzzles, playing board games, coloring, and reading at this beautiful library.

On our last day on the Cape, we celebrated Father's Day early for Grampy and Greg with brunch at our new favorite Cape breakfast spot, Hole-in-One, in Orleans, trip to the beach, and a cookout at the yurt.
